5 Tried and Tested Ways to Choose a Career

Many times I came across this situation when an Engineering graduate after devoting 4 years of his life to engineering, yet has no idea what to do next. While he pursued engineering he was just in a race to finish his education by passing with flying colors. When the he is about to complete his graduation he becomes cautious of what to do next? At this point many student don’t have the idea of what they want to do after graduation. Like many of them want may be confused whether to pursue higher Education or go for a Job instead. Some might be confused to do a MBA or a ME or Masters.

Before deciding Your Career you should consider the following points:

  1. Figure out what you love to do:

Go down the lane of your graduation days. Recall the events through your graduation life, it will give you a fair share of idea about what ticks your interest. Pen down the things that interests you like your hobbies, passions etc. make another list of what you feel you are good at, like some might be good at leadership, management etc. Nobody know you better than you I feel. Now try to find something common in between the two lists. And there you may find your career choice.

  1. Deep Study:

Career is one of the most important aspects of one’s life. It decides what you will be doing for the rest of your life. Learn more about whatever you feel like doing. For example if you want to go for a career in Information technology, just try to find out each and every aspect related to that profession like the working culture, pay scale etc. The internet can be your best friend in this, as there are number of online resources where you can get the information from.

  1. Step into it:

The best way to know the career you are willing to step into is to step into it. Many companies offer internship opportunities to students and freshers. It help you to understand the working culture your field. Not only this, it also lets you evaluate the good and bad related to that particular field in a short span of time. I would suggest to be an intern when you are in your final year.

  1. Talk to Experienced Persons:

Who else can brief you the things better than a professional of that field? Get in touch with people who are currently working in your field of choice, and enquire them. Show your interest because unless you show interest nobody is interested to provide you information. Ask them about their daily activities, challenges, experiences and other details. Professional networking websites like Linkedin are a great way to find such professionals.

  1. Consult a Counselor

When we are in a doubt, we always prefer to go the expert. Choosing a right career is one of the most important thing in life. Doing a thing for a limited time is a different thing but doing the same thing for the lifetime is really a BIG thing. To do something for your whole life, it should at least interest you. Since career development is a dynamic and an on-going process, counseling helps you play an important role in your career.

Currently millions of people are affected by wrong career choices they have made in the past. But now they cannot even think of changing the profession all of a sudden due to the responsibilities on them.

So I would just like to say that make the right career decision to have a bright future ahead.
